Type Quick App

This Quick App calculates solar data like the solar azimuth angle to use with other scenes to control roller shutters for example.

Prerequisite

Set the HC3 location at Settings -> 5. General -> Location tab
or https://hc3-ip/app/settings/general/location

Setup

No setup needed! The Quick App automatically extracts the latitude and
longitude geographic coordinates from the location configured in your HC3.

How to use?

You can automate your smart blinds based on the sun’s movement with this Quick App. Using the sun’s azimuth, you can automatically adjust your blinds position based on the sun’s position.

You can use the SunEarthTools.com website to check the positions of the sun at various times of the day throughout the year and create scenes to control your blinds based on the sun position relative to your windows.

How to implement this advanced blinds automation is described in detail here: https://docs.joepverhaeg.nl/azimuth/

It reads your location via de API: api.get("/panels/location") and picks the first from the list, maybe this is different at your site. Sent me the output of the settings var in the lua by adding print(settings) before self:setupChilds(). PLEASE REMOVE LANG/LOT ELSE YOU EXPOSE YOUR LOCATION!

Hi, I think your idea for this app is great, but it's only showing 0 for all my data. I've entered my coordinates and I have an internet connection. What am I missing?

Yes, the height/altitude is changing, but the solar azimuth angle, which is the compass direction of the sun, changes throughout the year due to the Earth's tilt and its orbit around the sun. The time of year affects the sunrise and sunset azimuths, causing them to shift along the horizon.

I don't understand the LUA example on your site. You mention there is a difference in azimuth between spring and summer. But as far as I understood, every day, regardless of the season, the azimuth always proceeds from 0 to 360 during the day. The difference is in the height/altitude of the sun at different azimuth values. But if your window gets light between 120 and 160 (in your example), that would be the same in summer and spring. So I would say your example scene always triggers at azimuth 120 and will always close the blinds. What did I misunderstand?

Yes, it still works. Did you set your HC3 location in the HC3 settings?
