DESCRIPTION
This Virtual Device provides a quick and easy method for overriding your Heating Panel zones.  It supports a manual override mode for both temperature and duration overrides, as well as the vacation/holiday mode for overriding the temperature only.  In manual mode, durations greater than 24 hours can be selected, making it a convenient method of overriding the heating for days or weeks, until a selected date and time when the automatic heating schedule will be resumed.  Therefore, the manual mode can also be used, for example, for vacations when a return date/time is known.

The Virtual Device will allow you to do the following:

  1. Select a heating panel zone that you wish to control
  2. Set the zone to manual mode by selecting an override temperature and/or time
  3. Set the zone to vacation mode along with an override temperature
  4. If the zone is in manual or vacation mode, then return to auto mode

COMPATIBILITY
This Virtual Device has been tested on Home Center 2 versions 4.100 through to 4.140.

FUNCTIONS

  • Zone Up/Zone Down: Change the currently selected heating panel zone
  • Manual: Set the mode to manual.  Note that selecting an override temperature or time will automatically put the panel into manual mode.
  • Vac: Set the panel to vacation/holiday mode.  This mode will only allow you to override the temperature, which will default to 10C.
  • Auto: Return the panel to automatic/scheduled mode, if currently in manual or vacation mode.
  • Reset: Clears any changes that you have made and displays the current settings for the selected zone.
  • -/+ C: Decrease or increase the selected temperature.  If in Auto mode, then Manual mode will be selected automatically.
  • -/+ H: Decrease or increase the time duration by one hour for the override temperature.
  • -/+ D: Decrease or increase the time duration by one day.
  • -/+ W: Decrease or increase the time duration by one week.
  • Set: Apply the changes to the heating panel

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
When a change has been made, then an asterisk will appear in front of either the Mode or the Temperature/Duration or both to indicate that the current value has been overridden.  Press the Set button to apply the changes and the asterisk(s) will disappear to indicate that these are now the currently set values.  Press Auto and then Set to return to the regular heating schedule.  If the Reset button is pressed before the pressing Set, then the current settings for the zone will be displayed and any overridden values will be cleared.

The current temperature of the room(s) that are controlled by the selected zone are displayed at the bottom of the device.

On system startup, if the zone is not selected, then it will default to the zone that currently controls that room that the VD is located in (or the first zone, if no room is assigned).  You can either add the VD to each room and use it to control the heating panel for each room individually, or you can add the VD to one room and then use the zone selectors to determine which heating panel zone to control.

INSTALLATION

  • Import the Virtual Device in the Add Device pane.
  • Assign the Virtual Device to a room (optional).
  • Change the icon on every button on the Advanced tab (optional).

I recently installed this Virtual Device on my HC 2 and then incorporated it into my existing Home / Away VD. It works brlliantly even though it is 4 years old. I am about to upgrade to a HC 3 and would love to know if anyone has tried to use this software in the HC3 yet.

Can it be used with HC3 ?

I really love this virtual device! But would like to be able to change the temperature with 0.5 degrees instead of 1. Tried to change this myself, but the scripts are to complex for me to get it done. Is it possible the change the VD to make smaller changes with 0.5 degrees? Would be great! Kind regards, Olaf.
