GREE Air Condition integration for Nice Yubii hubs and FIABRO HomeCenter 3 series, via the Modbus protocol.

This integration is published in form of encrypted QuickApp device. File attached below is a trial (demo) version that runs for 7 days after installation.
The full version has no time limitation and is distributed as an encrypted QuickApp, released for single FIBARO Home Center or Nice Yubii hub with serial number provided by the buyer.

Cost of full version is 100 Euro without VAT tax (for EU companies with valid EU VAT ID we can use 0% VAT tax for others 23% VAT tax will be applied, so total is 123 Euro to pay).
Cost is per one FIBARO Home Center / NICE Yubii controller.

Compatibility

  • Nice Yubii Home (PRO) and compatible
  • FIBARO HomeCenter 3
  • FIBARO HomeCenter 3 Lite
  • FIBARO/Yubii firmware version: 5.150, or newer
  • GREE RAC (Residential Air Condition) or Free Match Plus units via GREE XK76 wall controller (ex. G-Time, Cosmo, Clivia, Airy, Amber, U-Crown, Fairy, Pular, Pular PRO series)
  • GREE U-Match units via ME30-24/E5 or ME30-24/E6 GREE modbus adapters
  • Modbus RTU-TCP gateway (you need to buy and install it yourself)

More about GREE AC devices (global website) at:  http://global.gree.com/

NOTE: For RAC/Free Match Plus AC units this integration requires a GREE XK76 wall controller for each indoor AC unit. For U-Match series modbus adapter ME30-24/E5 or ME30-24/E6 has to be connected. Integration and connection are possible only via these controllers and adapters.

How it works

The solution is based on Modbus TCP communication protocol and connects external devices via a Modbus RTU-TCP gateway (hardware converter). GREE XK76 wall controllers and ME30-24 adapters support Modbus RTU (via RS485 port, 2-wires connection, red lines on the picture below). The Modbus RTU-TCP gateway converts the Modbus RTU standard into network communication (TCP/IP) supported by Yubii/HomeCenter hubs.

Following Modbus RTU-TCP gateways were tested and works fine:

  • PUSR: USR-DR302, USR-DR404 i USR-W610 (www.pusr.com),
  • Waveshare: RS485 TO ETH (B), RS232/485/422 TO POE ETH (B), RS232/485 TO WIFI ETH (B) (www.waveshare.com/wiki)
  • Elfin: EE11A, EW11A (www.hi-flying.com)

Other gateways with same functions shall also work. More about gateways and configurations at https://hdev.pl/en/modbus_integrations.html . For connecting multiple devices to one gateway, we recommend using PUSR and Waveshare gateways only.

The connection works locally, without usage of a cloud or the Internet. Data is read in real time, refreshed few times per minute, without limits and delays.

GREE AC integration is available as developer (multi-device) version implemented in the form of two QuickApps, and in a compact version in the form of a single QuickApp. The trial (demo) version is only available as the compact version.

One purchased license allows for multiple installations of the QuickApp on one Yubii/HomeCenter hub, and therefore allows for integration of multiple GREE AC devices in one location.

Supported functions

  • Controlling the operating mode (cool, heat, auto, dry, fan, off)
  • Controlling the setpoint independently for cool, heat, auto, and dry modes
  • Controlling the indoor unit's fan mode (auto, speed 1, speed 2, speed 3, turbo)
  • Controlling up-down swing mode
  • Switching Night, Silent, and Ionization (Healthy) modes
  • Setting the Fresh Air function level (0-100%, with step 10)
  • Outdoor and indoor temperature readings
  • Indication for XK76/ ME30-24 disconnection from the main AC unit

QuickApp adds the following set of meters and other child devices to the system:

  • Outdoor temperature sensor [°C]
  • Indoor temperature sensor [°C]
  • Room AC Thermostat, to change temperature setpoint, AC work mode and fan modes
  • Night mode switch
  • Silent mode switch
  • Ionizer switch
  • Fresh Air mode switch with a 0-100% slider

All the changes and settings can be done manually, via block scenes and profiles. The thermostat can be used in the Climate Panel to control cooling and heating setpoint via schedules and exceptions .

NOTES:

  • Depending on the AC model and equipment, some of the described functions may not be available or may not work (e.g., Ionizer or Fresh Air mode).
  • Depending on the air conditioner model and software version, enabling some functions may affect the operation of others. For example, manually changing the speed to 2 disables Silent mode, or changing the AC mode deactivates Night mode.
  • Depending on the AC model, changing the setpoint for Auto mode may or may not be allowed.
  • GREE AC QuickApp supports only Polish and English user interface languages (more languages can be added on request). Modbus Engine QuickApp supports English only.

Attached ZIP file for download

  • GREE AC Modbus DEMO trial QuickApp file (fqax)
  • QuickApp installation and configuration guide (PL, ENG)
  • Configuration guide for PUSR, Waveshare and Elfin gateways (PL, EN)
  • Modbus_Finder.fqax QuickApp file – searches for PUSR, Waveshare and Elfin Modbus gateways in the local network

The QuickApp is a demo version that works for 7 days after installing.

Fqax file shall be imported to your Home Center / Yubii Home hub at administration panel (accessed via Web browser): menu Settings, section Devices, button Add, tab Other Device, command Upload File.
NOTE: At the time of QuickApp installation, the FIBARO HomeCenter or Yubii Home hub must be registered on the owner's FibaroID account and must be connected to the Internet (this is a general requirement for the installation of encrypted QuickApps).
