Version 1.0 (2025.08.26)

GoodWe hybrid PV inverters integration with FIBARO Home Center 3 series and NICE Yubii Home hubs, via the Modbus protocol.

This integration is published in form of encrypted QuickApp device. File attached below is a trial (demo) version that runs for 7 days after installation.
The full version has no time limitation and is distributed as an encrypted QuickApp, released for single FIBARO Home Center or Nice Yubii hub with serial number provided by the buyer.

Cost of full version is 100 Euro without VAT tax (for EU companies with valid EU VAT ID we can use 0% VAT tax for others 23% VAT tax will be applied, so total is 123 Euro to pay).
Cost is per one FIBARO Home Center / NICE Yubii controller.
Please contact us if you need USD calculations.
Payment option: bank wire transfer (SEPA/Swift), Paypal

The integration was tested with GoodWe GW-15K-ET + battery (modbus TCP via Wifi-LAN Kit 2.0 Dongle wired by LAN)

How it works

GoodWe inverters support the Modbus TCP protocol, so integration can be started immediately after connecting the device to the home network via a WiFi or LAN cable and enabling Modbus TCP protocol at inverter’s settings.

The connection works locally, without usage of a cloud or the Internet. Data is read in real time, refreshed few times per minute, without limits and delays.

As an alternative, GoodWe devices also support Modbus RTU protocol on the RS-485 serial connector. For such connection you need an additional Modbus RTU-TCP Gateway, which must be purchased and installed yourself. Such gateway can also support other devices with the Modbus RTU protocol in parallel. For Modbus RTU option please contact us for more details.

Note: Modbus TCP works only for LAN connections (no WiFi), and when WIFI/LAN Kit 2.0 or WIFI/LAN Kit 2.0 (Cyber Security Version) dongle is used. These dongles is not compatible with older models and firmware of PV inverters. Compatibility info file is attached.

Supported functions

  • Readings of the operating status and priorities for energy flow between the PV, energy storage, home load and grid
  • Readings of PV power (up to 4 MPPT) and energy
  • Battery status control - charge level (SOC), charging and discharging power, charging/discharging energy, voltage and temperature, state of health (SOH)
  • Monitoring of power for home loads (summary and per phase)
  • Monitoring of power for the grid (summary and per phase)
  • Monitoring of backup load power (summary and per phase)
  • Monitoring of total and daily energy for production, home load and grid import and export
  • Monitoring voltages for each phase
  • Temperatures provided by the inverter
  • Information about inverter operation errors
  • Possibility to activate one of the action strategies/priorities for energy flow:
► Battery First – PV primarily goes to home loads and charges the batteries. When PV energy is not enough for home load, battery is used. System tries to keep 0 energy flow at grid connection.
► Sale First– PV and battery cover the home load first, surplus goes to grid. Battery is discharged to the grid.
► Grid First – PV energy goes to home load and to grid. When PV energy is not enough, grid covers home load. Battery is preserved - not charged and discharged.
► Battery First with grid AC charge – system takes additional power from grid to charge battery with full possible speed.

Note 1: Minimum required battery SOC parameter, described below, limits charging/discharging battery for each of above strategies.

Note 2: the inverter has a number of additional configuration parameters that affect the operation of above strategies. The parameters can limit the charging/discharging power, specify the minimum battery SOC, limit the maximum power of battery charging from the grid, and many others.

QuickApp adds the following set of meters and other child devices to the system:

  • Current PV production power [W] (for PV1 (MPPT1) and PV2, optional for PV3 and PV4)
  • Total energy produced [kWh]
  • Current battery charging power [W]
  • Current battery discharge power [W]
  • Battery state of charge (SOC) [%]
  • Battery state of health (SOH) [%]
  • Minimum required battery SOC – editable value that limits charging/discharging depends on active strategy/priority for energy flow.
  • Export power for grid  [W]
  • Import power from grid [W]
  • Backup power [W]
  • Total energy exported to the grid [kWh]
  • Total energy imported from the grid [kWh]
  • Inverter temperature [°C]
  • Heat sink temperature [°C]
  • Grid voltage for each phase [V]
  • Four switches to switch or check energy flow strategy/priority

These child devices can be used in Energy Panel configuration, and in scenes.

More information about available options and configuration of all devices can be found in the document available for download below.

Attached ZIP file for download

  • GoodWe PV Hybrid Modbus DEMO trial QuickApp file (fqax)
  • QuickApp installation and configuration guide (PL, ENG)
  • Wifi/Lan dongle compatibility information (GoodWe document, ENG)

The QuickApp is a demo version that works for 7 days after installing.
Fqax file shall be imported to your Home Center / Yubii Home hub at administration panel (accessed via Web browser): menu Settings, section Devices, button Add, tab Other Device, command Upload File.
NOTE: At the time of QuickApp installation, the FIBARO HomeCenter or Yubii Home hub must be registered on the owner's FibaroID account and must be connected to the Internet (this is a general requirement for the installation of encrypted QuickApps).

ETA, EHA models are just a submodels in ET/EH series. They have same specification for modbus communication, so this integration shall work. Integration uses Modbus TCP so you do not have to use extra equipment. You can download Demo of the QuickApp, enable Modbus TCP in configuration of your inverter, and test it.

Does the GoodWe ETA Hybrid 12 kW work with this three-phase model

Official statement from Goodwe support was "LAN only". But at some forums users confirms that Modbus TCP works via WiFi too. We cannot verify that. It can also depend on dongle's firmware version or hardware revision.

If I understand correctly, I will need a LAN connection for integration to Homecenter; WLAN is impossible?
